Gladeville Middle School and Winfree Bryant Middle School Team Up Against Cancer
Sherry’s Hope was presented with a check for $1,335 before tip-off of basketball games held on November 6th between Gladeville Middle School and Winfree Bryant Middle School. Both of the schools teamed up together to sell “Pink Out” shirts in the month of October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, donating the proceeds from the sales to Sherry’s Hope. Gladeville fans sported white shirts with pink writing, while Winfree Bryant fans wore pink shirts with white writing. Gladeville head girls’ and boys’ basketball coach, Missi Hunter shared, “This was our fourth year to do a Pink Out Game for Sherry’s Hope! This year it was a joint effort between Gladeville and Winfree Bryant. We chose Sherry’s Hope because of the work they do. We have great community support and we are thankful to have the opportunity to give back.”
Sherry’s Hope is incredibly grateful to be the recipient of the proceeds and to see a new generation of young people being excited to make a difference in the community. While Sherry’s Hope walks alongside families facing all different types of cancer diagnoses, it is wonderful to see a wave of pink support around Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Sherry’s Hope Executive Board Member, Kevin Bass expressed gratitude, “Fundraisers of this sort are what make our community so special; Sherry’s Hope is blessed to have supporters of all ages who make our mission possible.” The check presentation concluded with a call for all cancer survivors in attendance to stand and be recognized. While the teams came to compete, they ultimately united for one great cause- helping our neighbors affected by cancer.
